Bathers using Gnosall's St Lawrence School swimming pool should soon find themselves changing in refurbished changing rooms thanks to a £4000 grant from Staffordshire County Councillor Barry Stamp. The pool, which is used by a number of community groups, is desperately in need of new changing facilities, and as such is the focus of a major fund raising drive by the school. "Every County Councillor is allowed a sum of money which
can be spent on local community projects and I was only too pleased
to support the request to help part fund these much needed improvements
to the facilities in Gnosall. The swimming pool at St. Lawrence's
school is important to the local community. Not only is the
facility used by pupils from the school, but also by many of
the surrounding schools, and by a number of local community groups.
Having visited the school a few months ago it is clear that
the changing facilities at the pool leave a lot to be desired.
I am really pleased that I am able to recommend the County Council
use some of it's Local Members Initiative Money to help the school
carry out this work as the improvements will benefit a large
number of people. I understand that this grant will now allow
the work to go head so hopefully swimmers will soon be enjoying
changing in better surroundings," said Cllr Stamp.
